Party Animal
A struggling actress grapples with newfound exposure and fame when her beer commercial co-star - a photogenic bull terrier - becomes an overnight pop culture phenomenon, making her the spokesperson for a multi-million dollar ad campaign.
SYNOPSIS
Wannabe actress Sandy Maschmeyer is struggling to breakthrough in Hollywood as anything more than a sex object - but when she's cast in a television commercial opposite charismatic canine Spuds Mackenzie, she suddenly finds herself at the center of a massive beer campaign on a nationwide tour when the ad goes viral, turning the dog into a merchandising sensation.
Sandy and her co-stars immediately take to the limelight, but get more than they bargained for when Spuds becomes a high-profile target for a determined Republican senator with a grudge - and Sandy's messy off-screen behavior and candid on-screen outspokenness threaten to derail the campaign (and the party) for good.
AUTHORS NOTE: Spuds Mackenzie was the greatest advertising campaign of all time - a fascinating capsule of 80s capitalism, when sexism still ran rampant on primetime television and a beer-drinking dog could become an overnight pop-culture superstar. Working in advertising for Bud Light gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how a program of this size really comes together, and wanted to explore the lives of the real people who kept the campaign running for nearly three wild years.
